Societies like ours cannot operate without sponsorship.
Our major sponsor is the City of Boroondara who have shown their commitment to Heritage in the municipality by the development of the Heritage Centre in which we now operate along with the Canterbury History Group. We are grateful for this support and their ongoing support through the Triennial Grant funding and other occasional/annual grants.

2022 - 2023
Annual Community Strengthening Grant (City of Boroondara and Rotary Club of Balwyn)
This grant was awarded to the Canterbury History Group and the Surrey Hills Historical Society to facilitate the re-establishment of the 2 societies in the Heritage Centre at 190A Canterbury Road, specifically to develop a joint website, equipment for community use and outreach activities, and software for both marketing and community connection.
2022 - 2023
Federal Government Stronger Communities Programme Round 7
This grant was awarded to SHHS to purchase laptops, a printer and associated computer equipment.
2022 - 2023
Federal Government Volunteers Grant
This grant was awarded to support the recruiting and training of new volunteers and the upskilling of existing volunteers through a series of workshops in care of collections, cataloguing and research.
2023 - 2026
Triennial Operational Funding (City of Boroondara)
This funding is to support operating and program costs and maximise the opportunity provided by the Society’s relocation to its new home in the Heritage Centre at 190A Canterbury Road. It will allow us to maintain and expand our community activities beyond meetings, publications, research and cemetery tours. The funding is for 3 financial years.
2023 - 2024
Annual Community Strengthening Grant (City of Boroondara and Rotary Club of Balwyn)
This grant is to provide training in disaster preparedness and response, first aid training and the purchase of equipment to better record and protect collection items. This training and equipment to be shared with the Canterbury History Group.
